This program is designed to improve the academic performance and retention rate of African American first-year and transfer students. Components of this program include peer mentoring, a fall retreat for incoming first-year students, seminars/community building forums, community service involvement and leadership development.

Fall Retreat for New Students

The annual off-campus, community building retreat allows first-year and transfer students the opportunity to develop relationships with one another, work on communication skills, conflict resolution, relationships, self-esteem and team building.


First-Year Student Retreat Information

YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, CO

September 15th - 17th 2017

This event cost $10 to attend.  Your $10 includes transportation to and from all retreat activities, meals (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner/Sunday breakfast, and lunch), CSU swag and lodging!

  • Attend the Fall Retreat for New Students (September 15-17, 2017) at the YWCA of the Rockies in Estes Park
  • Attend workshops/ seminars that will assist with the transition into CSU and enhance your experience at CSU
  • Agree with being assigned to a Peer Mentor from B/AACC
  • Pay the $10 Personal Investment Fee (PIF)
  • Deadline to apply is Friday September 9th

On September 17th after lunch you will have a choice of participating in one of these activities.  Please choose your first, second, and third choice for the activity in which you would like to participate.  You may only participate in one activity as they will all be happening at the same time so choose wisely!
